14 Jun – Sumika Polymer inks deal to acquire Turkish EMAS Group
According to an official press release, Sumika Polymer Compounds Europe, a subsidiary of Japanese Sumitomo Chemical, has signed an agreement for the acquisition of the Turkish engineering plastics and polyolefin compounds manufacturer EMAS Group.
The proposed acquisition is expected to increase Sumika’s production capacity to 140,000 tons/year and bring the total number of its compounding sites in the world to 14.
Sumika also announced plans to invest in the production equipment of its future sites in Turkey so as to quickly offer its entire range of PP fiberglass in this region.
EMAS Group consists of ALMEN A.S operating at Gemlik Free Zone, AKCE Plastik A.S. at Manisa Organized Industrial Zone, and Emas Plastik A.S at Bursa Organized Industrial Zone.
With a total production a capacity of 75,000 tons/year, the Group is one of the largest companies in Turkey that specialize in the manufacturing of engineering plastics and polyolefin compounds.
