According to a letter sent to its customers, Shin Etsu declared force majeure on deliveries of all PVC grades from its 450,000 tons/year plant in Pernis, the Netherlands by May 6. The company had to declare forece majeure on its PVC supplies following a critical and unforeseen leakage in their VCM production plant in the Netherlands.
According to the letter, the company’s stock levels both for VCM and PVC were already at low levels following the turnarounds at their plants. Stocks were further reduced to critically low levels after some further delays in the start-up due to other unforeseen technical issues.
