The reason behind the force majeure was cited as unexpected issues at the company’s ethylene plant, caused by a fire on processing equipment. In its integrated petrochemical complex, HIP PetroHemija produces more than 600,000 tons/year of petrochemical products, while the company’s Pancevo complex houses a 200,000 tons/year steam cracker, a 90,000 tons/year HDPE plant and a 60,000 tons/year LDPE plant.

The company had to declare a force majeure following an equipment failure on the night of August 27 to 28, 2021. It is not yet known when the equipment failure will be fixed or the force majeure will be lifted. The plant has a suspension PVC production capacity of 290,000 tons/year through 3 fully automated production trains, according to Kem One’s web site.
